Ali's Gifts Autism Awareness and Acceptance Challenge

Eligibility: Participants: J.S.S.3 (Junior Secondary School Year 3) to S.S.S 3 (Senior Secondary School) students at Weenoble International Schools, Nigeria
Competition Overview: The Ali’s Gifts Autism Awareness and Acceptance Challenge is an opportunity for J.S.S.3 students at Weenoble International Schools to showcase their understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and promote awareness and
acceptance within their school community. This competition is inspired by the book

Ali’s Gifts: A Family’s Experience of Autism Spectrum Disorder” and aims toencourage empathy, understanding, and support for individuals with autism.

Submission Guidelines: Participants can choose one of the following categories to compete in:
1. Written Essay: Write an original essay on the theme of autism acceptance and awareness, drawing inspiration from the book “Ali’s Gifts.” The essay should behandwritten and should not exceed 1,000 words. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation are essential.
2. Artistic Expression: Create a piece of artwork that conveys the importance of autism acceptance and awareness. This can be a drawing, painting, or any other visual medium. Please attach a brief explanation of your artwork (up to 200 words).
3. Community Outreach: Engage in a community outreach activity related to autism within Weenoble International Schools. This can include organizing awareness sessions, creating informational pamphlets, or participating in events to support individuals with autism. Document your activity and submit a written report (up to 500 words).

Competition Stage and Deadline:

The submission deadline for all categories is October 27, 2023.

Winner Selection:

Judges will evaluate entries in all categories.
The winners will be selected and announced on November 10, 2023.

Prizes:
First Prize: ₦100,000
Second Prize: ₦50,000
Third Prize: ₦25,000

Scoring Criteria:

  • Creativity and Originality: 35 points 
  • Relevance to Autism Awareness and Acceptance: 45 points 
  • Clarity of Expression (for essays): 20 points 
  • Artistic Quality (for artwork): 20 points 
  • Impact of Community Outreach: 20 points 
 

Results Announcement:

The competition results will be announced on November 10, 2023, within Weenoble International Schools.
